Chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus) is a domesticated fowl, from the class Aves. Humans raise chickens as a primary source of food, taking both their meat and eggs, occasionally  taking their feathers.

Male chickens that are adult are known as "roosters" and female adults are called "hens."  Young roosters are called "cockerels" and young hens "pullets." The chicken that just hatched is called a "chick", not labeling them by gender.

Chickens are omnivores, meaning that they consume both meat and vegetables. Chickens peck and scratch the soil for bugs, and other morsels. Chickens eat berries and any fruit. They can eat small lizards, small snakes, centipedes, scorpions, and the occasional mouse or rat. However, chickens cannot eat chocolate or citrus fruits.

There is something called a "pecking order"  between chickens. The top chicken is ranked number one, the second best is two, and so on and so forth. They live in flocks, and have more than 30 known calls. They are highly intelligent and their brain size an be compared to a dog, a monkey, or a dolphin. Roosters can also tell his flock if something interesting is going on or not.

Chickens are being mentally tortured and physically harassed today because of the

idea that they are "chicken," which means "coward."

These pretty birds are actually very affectionate creatures and love to be held and fed.
