Chickens make wonderful pets. From anconas to silkies, they all are very friendly.

Nobody considers chickens for pets. Which is very ridiculous. Chickens are friendly and they are good listeners, lovely lawn mowers, compost bins, and egg-layers and snail-eaters. In other words, chickens can be better  than a dog or a cat.

Dogs are often loud and noisy and they need washing, walking, grooming, so on and so forth. Cats can be extremely mean and they may be most disagreeable. You need to buy lots of supplies for these pets. Also... Who ripped up Mom's favorite rug?

Chickens are also very good companions and love children and can't wait to be petted. If you pull a chicken's tail, it will merely cackle and squirm away, often to come back a minute later. They also listen very carefully and are willing to do almost anything that involves food. Give a chicken some leeks and a pot and tell it to cook itself after you treat it to a gourmet meal and some training and it'll jump into a boiling pot willingly. The point is, Chickens make wonderful pets!

Beethoven in the center, Liszt to the left, and Bach to the right. Three of our six girls in their pullet-hood, and what's ironic is that they are given male composer names.

Bach the Americana is curious about the iPod!
